Dr. Black has over 20 years experience in the mental health field, with a career encompassing both teaching and clinical work. She provides psychological testing and psychoeducational assessments to aid in the diagnosis of ADHD, learning disorders, autism-spectrum disorders, and behavioral problems, as well as anxiety and mood disorders.
Her primary therapeutic modality is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a treatment focused on helping people identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that often lead to negative emotions and behaviors. CBT is usually a short-term treatment option for clients desiring individual therapy. Dr. Johnson is also committed to strengthening and supporting marriages. As a certified Gottman Program Educator she combines wisdom from research and practice to teach couples proven, practical, and effective strategies for making their marriage work. Dr. Johnson is also a recognized counselor for Focus on the Family’s national Christian Counseling Network.
